The Special Session of the 2009 General Assembly gets underway June 11th. It appears those who want to expand gambling are gearing up for the return of the 150 Legislators to the State House.

Here are some possible areas of expansion the Legislators could be voting on: a casino in Fort Wayne and/or Indianapolis, the creation of a land based casino in Northwest Indiana and an expansion of the types of gambling at the two race tracks in Anderson and Shelbyville.

Some legislators may look at gambling as a way to bring in more money to the state.  The best way to bring in more money to the state is to create good paying jobs.  This will bring in revenue to operate state and local government without the negative consequences that accompany legalized gambling that have been reported by various groups around the country.
