There are some major differences between the plan originally being supported by Governor Mitch Daniels and the effort to Repeal Property Taxes being led by Advance America.

Here are just a few:

  1. Owning Your Own Home

Under Governor Daniels’ plan, he would impose a cap of 1% on residential property.  This means that a home assessed at $100,000 the first year would pay a maximum of $1,000.  However if you couldn’t pay your property taxes the government would take your home and sell it.  Under Advance America’s Property Tax Repeal Plan there would be no property taxes and you could finally own your own home.

  1. Right To Vote

Under Governor Daniels’ property tax plan , the citizens would not be able to vote to repeal property taxes. Under Advance America’s Property Tax Repeal Plan Hoosiers would be given the right to vote to Repeal Property Taxes.  After all, the government has no money to spend except the taxpayers’ money!
