Legislative Update

I have Good News for you, and I have some Bad News for you!

This was the 36th legislative session for Advance America. The 2016 General Assembly wound up being one of the most dangerous legislative sessions for the families and churches I have ever seen!

There was an unprecedented attack on religious freedom and Christian business owners in the 2016 General Assembly led by Senator David Long. The Good News is that the attack by Senator Long was stopped this year at the State House.

Senator Long wanted to pass Senate Bill 344. This bill would have given the government the power to punish a Christian business owner – a baker, a florist or a photographer – who refused to participate in a same sex wedding ceremony because they believe that marriage is only to be between one man and one woman.

Senator Long’s efforts were stopped!

Advance America sounded the alarm through our online videos, emails, website, mailings and speaking engagements. Hoosiers around the state responded and your emails, phone calls and letters to your State Senator made a difference! That’s Good News!

Watch this video and be informed on the Bad News. Be prepared for this bill to come around again. Senator Long has now made it clear that he wants to try again.

For over 35 years Advance America has led the battle at the State House to protect Hoosier families and churches, and defend traditional values. Advance America is a non-partisan educational organization. Advance America does not endorse any candidate or political party.
Advance America will continue – with your help – to stop Senator Long and any other legislators who try to harm Christian business owners, religious freedom, pastors and churches.
Together, we can make a difference! Thank you again, for helping stop Senator Long’s efforts in the 2016 General Assembly.
Until next time, may God bless you and your family and may God bless Indiana!
