House Joint Resolution 6 The Marriage Protection Amendment!

On Tuesday, March 29, 2011 the State Senate voted 40-10 to pass House Joint Resolution 6, the Marriage Protection Amendment! HJR 6 would protect marriage between one man and one woman and ban same sex civil unions!

Facts About Protecting Marriage!

Fact #1:  If same sex marriages are legal in Indiana then children beginning in kindergarten would be taught that same sex marriages are acceptable, normal and legalThat’s not right!

Fact #2:  Indiana is just one court decision away from having same sex marriages in our  state!

Fact #3:  A lot of politicians talk about protecting marriage but refuse to do all they can to pass a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage!

Fact #4:  In order for the citizens of Indiana to be able to vote in 2014 for a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage the legislature must pass the Constitutional Amendment in 2011 and again in 2013 or 2014!

Fact #5:  The House approved the Marriage Protection Amendment (House Joint Resolution 6) on February 15, 2011 by a vote of 70 to 26.

Fact #6:  The next step occurred in the State Senate when they voted to pass HJR 6 on March 29, 2011 by a vote of 40-10!

Fact #7:  You deserve the right to vote to protect marriage!

The Next Step!

The Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage (HJR 6) has now passed the House of Representatives and the State Senate.

The Next Step is for the 2013 or 2014 General Assembly to pass HJR 6 so the voters can vote in 2014 to protect marriage!
