The 150 Legislators returned to the State House on January 5th. The House is controlled by the Republicans by a margin of 60-40 while the Senate is made up of 37 Republicans and 13 Democrats.

This is the long session of the legislature.  The General Assembly will be in session until April 29.

There may be as many as 1,400 bills filed in the House and Senate.

The legislators will be debating a new 2-year multi-billion dollar budget, education reform initiatives, as well as drawing new legislative and congressional districts.

Advance America will once again be monitoring and reporting on the General Assembly and will be working with Senators and Representatives on issues affecting families, churches and traditional values including pro-life legislation and a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage.
