The legislators wrapped up their work on a new two year budget on the last day of our fiscal year, June 30th.
One of the things that Advance America was concerned about in the Special Session was the expansion of gambling. Advance America does not support any expansion of gambling. There was the threat of language being added to the budget which could have created a casino in Fort Wayne or in Indianapolis or paved the way for a casino in Fort Wayne by having a referendum. There was also the possibility of expanding the forms of gambling at the two race tracks in Shelbyville and Anderson. I am pleased to report that the new two year budget did not expand gambling in our state.
