Indiana doesn’t need any more gambling! Indiana doesn’t need a casino in Indianapolis or Fort Wayne!

The General Assembly will wrap up the 2009 Regular Session on or about April 29.  There could be a major push to place a casino in Indianapolis or Fort Wayne as a way of bringing in more money for both of these cities and the State of Indiana.

The Indianapolis Casino!

The Indianapolis Star was correct on April 11, 2009 when they editorialized against a downtown casino for Indianapolis.  The editorial stated some of the arguments against casinos: “the higher crime rates, the financial drain on existing businesses, the rewards for an industry that undermines families, the promotion of a get-rich-quick mindset.”

The editorial concludes by stating: “But Marion County residents should not accept a casino in the heart of Downtown.  It would be a shortsighted solution with long-lasting consequences.”

The same arguments can be used against a casino in Fort Wayne too!
