The 150 legislators met on November 18 for their Organization Day. New members were sworn in and pictures were taken with family members. Republicans who control the Senate and Democrats who control the House pledged to work in a bi-partisan manner in the 2009 General Assembly. Both the House and the Senate adjourned until January 7, 2009.

Between now and then the 100 Representatives and 50 State Senators will be introducing hundreds of separate bills dealing with everything from a new two year state budget, to property taxes, to education, to churches, to gambling, to pro-life matters and countless other topics.

House and Senate Committees will be holding hearings after January 7th. The citizens of Indiana ought to know what is going on at “their” State House, especially since the government has no money to spend except their money!

Advance America will continue to monitor the 2009 General Assembly just as we have every session since our founding in 1980. Check back often at www.AdvanceAmerica.com for more information form “your” General Assembly!
