The Indiana General Assembly gave local communities the opportunity to raise a local option income tax. If a county took full advantage of this local option income tax increase then your taxes would go up 2.25%. When this is added to existing local option income taxes and the state income tax, you could very easily be paying over 7%. If your county has not yet adopted this local option income tax, contact your county council and county commissioners to let them know your opinion on raising income taxes at the local level. To find out who your elected officials are call your county election board. Always remember this is your government!
