President Obama has publicly stated his support for homosexual marriage! This announcement on May 9th came one day after the voters in North Carolina overwhelmingly approved a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage between one man and one woman.

Protecting Churches from Government Control

For over 30 years, churches in Indiana have been free from government control to operate child care ministries. Some legislators want to take away this freedom churches have. Advance America will continue to lead the effort to protect churches. Churches are required to meet fire codes and sanitation regulations. But the government should not be able to tell a church: who they can hire, what they can teach the children and how they operate their child care ministry! If the government can control a church child care ministry then the next step would be to control other ministries of a church involving children including: Sunday school, day camps, Christian schools and summer camps. Fortunately an Amendment to House Bill 1136 in the State Senate in the 2012 General Assembly that would have given massive control to the government over church child care ministries was defeated! Advance America will continue to lead the effort to protect churches from government control or licensure!

Pro-Homosexual & Cross Dresser Ordinance Introduced!

South Bend City Council To Consider
Dangerous Ordinance!

Advance America does not support passing a State law or a local ordinance to give government recognition and approval to homosexuality and male cross-dressers!

On Monday, March 26, 2012 the South Bend City Council will vote on a local ordinance to give special rights and government recognition to homosexuality and male cross-dressers!

According to Citizens for Community Values of Indiana here are some problems with the proposed ordinance!

The religious exemption in the ordinance will not fully protect churches and faith based schools and day cares!
Male cross-dressers (men who dress as women) will be given legal access to women’s restrooms!
A victory in South Bend could help pave the way for homosexual marriages in Indiana!

The Ordinance Must Not Pass!
Please contact Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the 9 members of the South Bend City Council right away and ask them to:

“Oppose the Special Rights Ordinance for homosexuals and male cross-dressers.”

The 2012 General Assembly is Over!

The 2012 General Assembly has ended!

There were a number of victories for the families and churches of Indiana!

Unfinished Business!
Even though the legislative session ended, the battle to protect churches and families is not over! You will notice on the Final Legislative Update the issue of the license plate approved by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for a pro-homosexual group, the Indiana Youth Group, that targets children as young as 12 years of age. I’m grateful that the BMV revoked the license plate after the legislature ended because the Indiana Youth Group violated their contract by selling low number plates in exchange for a contribution. However, we must still pass legislation to stop this group and similar groups from getting a license plate in the future!

Parental Choice In Education

Every child in Indiana deserves the opportunity to get a first class education. Every parent deserves the chance to enroll their child in the best school for them. The 2011 General Assembly passed House Bill 1003 – the most expansive school choice bill in the Nation. HB 1003 created choice scholarships for parents whose children are currently in the public school to help them attend a private or Christian school. The parents must meet certain income requirements.

Fortunately no bill passed in the 2012 Legislature that would roll back the victories won in 2011! Advance America will help lead the effort in 2013 to further enhance the rights of parents to choose the best educational setting for their child!

Abortion-Funding Planned Parenthood!

The 2011 General Assembly passed legislation banning taxpayer money from going to entities that perform abortions. This includes Planned Parenthood. Legislation was filed in the 2012 General Assembly to reverse the victory won in 2011 and to once again give taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood and other entities that perform abortions.

Fortunately both bills filed in 2012 to once again provide taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood did not pass! No doubt there will be attempts in 2013 to give taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood and other groups that perform abortions. Advance America will continue to help lead the effort to oppose this!

Last Family & Freedom Day at the Statehouse in 2012!

Advance America is going to once again host Family and Freedom Days at the State House.

Where:	7th Floor Conference Room 101 W. Ohio Street, Indianapolis, IN One block east of the State House
Cost:	There is NO COST to attend
Who:	Pastors, Senior citizens, individuals, families – all citizens who are concerned about what is happening in their state government.
What:	Learn what is happening in the House and Senate and then walk one block to the State House. Individuals may be able to sit in on a committee hearing and watch the House and Senate in action. Everyone will be encouraged to talk with their Senator and Representative on issues of importance to them.

BMV Approves Pro-Homosexual License Plate!

Help Protect Children – Revoke License Plate Now!

This Should Not Happen In Indiana!

Warning: Discretion should be utilized before viewing the Indiana Youth Group website and no minor should be permitted to access the site! We could not list some of the items from their website because this is a pro-family email.

A pro-homosexual group, the Indiana Youth Group, that targets children as young as 12 years of age was given a special license plate by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles recently!

Other Groups Have License Plates That Support Worthy Causes!

Other groups have a special license plate that has been approved by the legislature or the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. These include worthy causes such as: Riley Children’s Hospital, military veterans, and Indiana colleges and universities. That’s ok!

But it is not ok for the State of Indiana to put its seal of approval on a pro-homosexual group that targets children as young as 12 years of age!

It’s not ok for the State of Indiana to approve a special license plate to be used by a pro-homosexual group that targets children as young as 12 years of age to help them raise money for their efforts!
